The Super Bowl is almost here and that can mean only one thing: companies across the globe will be vying for your attention with big budget commercials… Every company (and their advertising agency) will be bringing their “A game.” They’ve got to. The cost this year for :30 seconds in front of a captivated 111+ million people – a cool $4.5 million. Fortunately for them, Forbes says Super Bowl XLVIII is expected to break the TV viewership record.

Some spots will be hilarious, some soul-touching, some memorable… and others just downright awful. It’s typically a mixed bag with a handful that stand out. The pressure on advertisers to get a bigger return on investment for their clients, whether through buzz or sales, is incredible. As social media continues to play a growing role in society, brands have been looking to get more bang for their buck by extending the life and reach of their commercials.

According to Crowdtap, 93% of viewers will discuss Super Bowl ads with peers while 61% will share ads on social media. Bingo. Over the last few years, businesses have been teasing or releasing their spots ahead of the big game in the hopes they will go wildly viral, making the huge investment worthwhile. 2014 has been no different.
